The Steven Gerrard era is beginning to take shape

With three permanent signings made and a whole host of players linked, the Steven Gerrard era is beginning to motor into action.

Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield are joined by Jamie Murphy as things begin to shape for season 2018-19 under the guidance of our new man.

All 3 are astute signings, solid dependable characters who will be worth points to us, points we couldn’t win last season. That’s the difference instantly, particularly in the case of McGregor, these guys are winners with the correct attitude.

Allan McGregor used to be unhappy even when he had a clean sheet, that’s the attitude we desire and that’s the attitude we crave.

Yes he’s in the latter stages of his career and yes Martin Skrtel, who is rumoured to be close to a £2.7m Rangers move, is also 34 this year. I get the trepidation but the answer is clear, Gerrard is buying for now and is buying a winning attitude. Rangers don’t have time to wait, there will be a mixture of experience and youthful desire in the squad.

Our squad has lacked the hunger and mental strength, character, desire that guys like Arfield and McGregor have in abundance. Do you think these guys will be happy with drawing up at Pittodrie? No and they certainly won’t be ‘shhhhhhhh’ the fans up at Firhill on a cold Wednesday night either.

What is true is it’s an exciting time for the club and for the supporters, Steven Gerrard roles into town to begin his job in less than two weeks and that’s enough to get you excited just that alone.

Who will join him? Kyle Bartley? Jermaine Defoe? Dominic Solanke? Lucas Leiva? Harry Wilson? Steven Davis? Etc etc The answer is only time will tell and no one is out of the equation to join this club. There is nothing I would bet against at this minute. If Steven Gerrard wants his man then he will get him, he will be backed and he will be allowed to shape his vision as he sees fit.

Rangers mean business and the potential signings are mouthwatering, the days of rolling over are soon to be forgotten

It’s a hugely exciting time to a Rangers fan & on the day of a wonderful Royal Wedding, keep your head held high because exciting times are returning to our club

The Steven Gerrard era is rolling into town and it’s going to be exciting
