Match action –

First half –

4 mins – SHOT! Matondo drills a shot which GK pushes out after Tav played him in, was wide on right so not a bad effort.

8 mins – CHANCE! Brilliant build up as Dowell plays in Yilmaz, he drills it across and Hagi takes a touch then sends it wide. That would have been a cracking goal.

13 mins – Hamburgs first chance as Königsdörffer goes in but hits the side netting.

22 mins – CHANCE! Great build up from Goal Kick as Raskin releases Tavernier, he plays in Sima who crosses and comes to Dowell who shoots well but is saved before Hagi fires over.

31 mins – SHOT! Break from Rangers, Sakala cuts in from left but effort is saved and Sima fires over.

34 mins – WIDE! Hamburg free kick from Pherai is just wide. Tav lost the ball which led to free kick.

35 mins – OVER! Another Hamburg free kick from Pherai is over, Tav again lost ball and Balogun took him down.

38 mins – GOAL! Persistence pays off as Sakala robs last defender before lashing past the goalkeeper, 1-0 Rangers and on chances deserved!

44 mins – PENALTY TO RANGERS! Sakala is taken out and Tavernier steps up to convert, 2-0 HT.

Half time – Rangers 2 Hamburg 0

Rangers worthy of the lead, Sakala at the heart of both goals and has been his usual persistent self. Some good moves which produced chances in the first, thought Yilmaz and the persistent Dowell stood out.

Hamburg had two free kick efforts but Rangers in control.

Second half –

Subs – OFF Davies, Hagi, Fashion Jr, Dowell & Balogun.

ON Souttar, Cantwell, Lammers, Lundstram & Ylfeko.

59 mins – Sima lifts a knock down from our corner over, first chance of the second half.

Subs – ON Rice, Dessers, Barisic, Roofe

OFF Yilmaz, Raskin, Sima, Matondo

63 mins – SAVE! Butland springs to his left to tip a shot wide.

73 mins – CHANCE! Tav through as keeper blocks, Cantwell nods off the bar from far out and Dessers header is tipped over!

Sub – OFF Tavernier, ON Tom Lawrence

85 mins – Break from Rangers as Lammers shot is wide from Lawrence cross, good play on the break.

90 mins – GOAL! Hamburg free kick is a cracker as Jean-Luc Dompe pulls one back.

Man of the Match – Sam Lammers

Quiet second half with changes disrupting the flow but general intensity down from first half. Rangers knocked it about well at times, some good moves during the game and some promising cameos throughout. Game time for Rice and Yfeko who both done well.

All about fitness but enough today to be pleased overall, for a friendly Rangers can be pleased.
