Week two of the window and Rangers signing rumours intensify

Last week I blogged that Rangers could be set for a busy January and we looked at the latest Rangers rumours. As we head into the second week of the window the rumours have only intensified and we shall look again at the latest gossip doing the rounds down Ibrox way.

Business has been sharp with Rangers quickly strengthening in the loan signings of Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy. Murphy the obvious pick of the two and seems a stick on to sign permanently this summer on a 3 year deal. Both clubs have said to have had an agreement in place and despite the rumours down fantasy way, I commend the board highly in getting this one over the line. It seems to me this board are trying to do deals which are done similarly all over Europe, but are paying the price for previous mismanagement.

Anyway, moving swiftly on, Halliday, MOH and Joe Dodoo have returned to the squad as we speculated last week. Carlos Pena has returned to Mexico on loan and rumours persist that the club are actively looking to do deals in moving Fabio Cardoso, Eduardo Herrera and Bruno Alves out the door. Alves future depends solely on the outcome of his injury, with the player still in plaster any moves back to Portugal are in the balance.

Coming in rumour wise things haven’t got any quieter. Today’s rumour is that Rangers will move for Greg Docherty of Hamilton this week and he is now the clubs number 1 target. A quick twitter question proves this will be a very popular signing should we manage to get it over the line.

Jordan Jones remains on the radar and it was also rumoured Rangers are negotiating with Kilmarnock for a solution to this, some even suggesting the club had a £500,000 offer placed on Kilmarnock’s desk today. As rumoured last week deals for Jones may include players going in opposite direction.

Jason Cummings rumour won’t go away and it seems we have been offered the player on loan with an option to buy. Cummings definitely splits opinion on twitter but I’m sure if he joined he would become an instant hit.

Whilst we covered these rumours last week they remain at the forefront still this week.

New rumours include a potential Bosman move for Devante Cole of Fleetwood Town. Press reports suggest Rangers are moving forward in their attempts to snare the young striker.

Other Bosman rumours suggest that Kenny McLean has agreed a move to Rangers in the summer. It is suggested that like Ryan Jack last year, this potential move will be kept quiet to not upset his current ‘supporters’. But this is an unconfirmed rumour at this time and not verified anywhere, may be a simple case of 2+2=5 as Pedro like the player previously?

There were also small suggestions Kyle Lafferty was also on Rangers radar once more but that talk quickly died down almost as soon as it started.

The beauty of the transfer window and Rangers is it’s certainly never quiet. Despite rumours, Rangers have money to spend and the club are actively working on more deals imminently. If we were as skint as being suggested, by ill informed internet speculation, then interest for James Tavernier and Josh Windass wouldn’t have been greeted with short shrift from the Ibrox boardroom.

It’s certainly an interesting time ahead, will we get an unknown face through the door like Sean Goss or will some speculated names above arrive through the Ibrox corridors? Perhaps speculation of an early arrival this week will come true and more good news will be on its way.

As I said last week, it’s certainly never boring following our club during transfer window time and rumours will only intensify as weeks progress.
