Those of you who follow us on twitter will see we have been busy with a few tweets this week (@4ladhadadream)
First was to reaffirm that the talk of ‘admin rumours’ was absolute nonsense. Rangers will not respond to this by giving it any credence but the Ibrox board remain unmoved by recent rumours which simply regurgitate themselves every few months by those who are best ignored. If we responded to every claim we would never be out the papers.
Rangers are not in any financial bother, indeed planned investment and potential investors mean our future is secure. As time progresses the return to the board of Alistair Johnston will become evident.
Rangers this week were given the go ahead to relay and modify the roofs of the Copland, Sandy Jardine and Broomloan stands at a cost of £1m. Work and plans to regenerate the area surrounding the stadium continue with plans for a memorial garden now in public domain. The 150 year celebrations are a massive goal for our board who remain committed to returning our stadium to the stature she deserves. Work will continue to fix the Club Deck roof after the work on the other stands is done. Ibrox is rightfully being restored after years of neglect, something our board promised and are delivering.
We also tweeted out that we were keen to conclude at least two more signings this window and money (albeit not a lot) was available for the manager to spend.
Ignore the irrelevant noise was the message. Thankfully as week two of the transfer window ends, Rangers are on the verge of announcing those two signings.
Jason Cummings is close to penning a loan deal, similar to Murphy, with an option to buy. The striker who was almost a Ranger back in 2016 will now make the move (baring last minute disasters) which Rangers will make permanent this summer.
Russell Martin will arrive this week from Norwich and his loan move is also agreed. A rumoured straight replacement for Outgoing Bruno Alves, who we are hearing is certain to move on.
This brings us to another tweet which we said Rangers would this week move for Greg Docherty of Hamilton. The Manager confirmed that contact with Hamilton had been made but despite suggestions this one still has some way to go. Rangers have not yet made any formal bid for the player and although the player craves the move, Rangers need to make concrete their intentions which is something we hope and expect will happen this week.
Mentioned previously in this blog we told you about the rumour that we are looking at two Bosman signings. Kenny McLean is rumoured to be one and the other which is a signing close to being announced, is WBA striker Tyler Roberts. That Bosman deal is said/rumoured to be ‘done’ is a similar deal to Joe Dodoo’s cross border cut price move. Those of you who listen to the excellent Heart & Hand podcast will note they too are saying similar, those who read social media will also conclude these rumours are also well known. But at this stage they are simply rumours.
Yes indeed, it’s all looking rather positive at this minute. The board have changed their stance on the DOF and allowed him to forge a partnership with Graeme Murty and it all looks rather positive.
Players will leave and Rangers will look to move several players out, it is no secret that the club wish to move out more than one.
Indeed the targeted summer signings rumoured to include James McArthur and Scott Arfield May indicate our club have finally ‘got’ it with regards to direction we are moving in.
That news coupled with the clubs desire to begin contract talks with Josh Windass which Mark Allen is personally pressing on, seem to indicate that we are in a good place.
The squad has potential and performances in Florida have shown that perhaps Graeme Murty can galvanise this squad. Rangers were excellent in the Florida Cup and on a stage that a healthy attendance would have viewed.
It’s up to us now to come back refreshed and carry this positivity forward. There is still the league to compete in and Scottish Cup to win.
Things are positive at the club at the minute.
Ignore the irrelevant and the noise 🔴⚪️🔵
