Good times never seemed so good

It might happen this weekend. Yes that’s right, we could become Champions this Sunday. Read that, take a breath and let it sink in.

Rangers are on the brink.

That moment we have waited on, for so long, may just be right around the corner. If we manage Victory against St Mirren this Saturday , it means that we would be twenty one points ahead with our ‘challengers’ only able to equal our points tally.

One slip from them and the title would be ours. If not we face the glorious opportunity to take the short trip to the East End with just a point needed to claim our 55th title. A sweet opportunity without a doubt, but winning it as quickly as possible and concentrating on Europe is equally as preferable.

Either way it is now a case of when and certainly not if. It’s so close and I’m excited as I’ve ever been watching our club. When I look back at the last ten years there has been so many moments of ‘downs’ that only when Steven Gerrard arrived did I begin to believe in the ‘highs’.

Those of you that have been long term readers of this blog will remember trying to stay positive and battle through those dark days before the arrival of the management team.

It feels wonderful to be able to write out something so positive and being able to enjoy this moment. Next time I blog we could be champions. It feels like we have done this together and I can’t wait until it happens.

Last night at Livingston we had to dig deep at times, a fairly dull first half performance was lit up when Alfredo was clearly taken down inside the area. Unbelievably referee John Beaton booked Alfredo for diving and the reaction of our manager was everything that sums up his passion.

The accusation that Rangers get everything was clearly dismissed as the whistler missed three legitimate claims for a penalty, two of which were stick on decisions.

Steven Gerrard has bought into Rangers, he understands and he wants it as badly as everyone. He gets it and he understands exactly what this club is all about.

The referee and his assistant got it badly wrong and the club should most definitely appeal his decision to award Alfredo a yellow. Justice would be done however.

Second half we were more positive and had several half chances, Alfredo was busy but in truth it looked like we might not make the break through but when we did it was fitting it was Buff who done so.

Alfredo has came alive recently, no doubt about it and I suppose it’s came at the perfect time because a firing Morelos may just propel us to more success at a vital time of the season.

He was on the spot to finish tonight after good work by Kamara who seemed to take the game by the scruff of the neck after half time.

It was the most satisfying of endings to a hard fought game and in many ways it summed up the difference this season. The ability to find a way to win and yet another 0-1 victory is the difference this season. These are games we wouldn’t have won last year.

Connor Goldson is the rock that everything is built around. Played every single minute and he was outstanding on his 150th appearance for Rangers. He won every header, every tackle and Helander beside him kept everything out.

This team is everything and it deserves all the credit in the world. When we do win this league heroes and legends of our football club will be born.

They deserve every moment of it.

Everyone of us can be rightly delighted and proud of this club. They have given us everything this season and the accumulation of everything, from previous years of training, has perfectly evolved this time round.

Steven Gerrard has said that the players and management have set out to make our supporters proud every single game they have played.

Well I am proud. At times it has been difficult but everyone of us has stood by the club right throughout this journey. Everyone of us has faced ridicule and the taunting every time we have went to work or looked on social media. But those times are now gone. No matter what anyone says or how they try to downplay this moment, they can’t.

The time is ours.

Enjoy it, live it up and appreciate every moment. The title is coming home and it may be just days away.

55 is, as Rangers have always been, Inevitable.
