Rangers defeat last week and the manner of it, left us all deeply concerned at what was happening at Ibrox.
A small bit of enthusiasm returned yesterday during our victory over Hearts, with good individual performances from Cummings, Dorrans and Candeias to name but a few. The result probably should have been more convincing had we once again not failed to take our chances.
One result certainly doesn’t wipe the memories of last week, it doesn’t even come close. But there was better news today with the breaking reports that Rangers are set to clinch the Bosman signing of Scott Arfield.
The 29 year old Attacking midfielder is home sick and wants a return home, Rangers are said to be ‘extremely close’ to clinching his signature. It would certainly be a welcomed sign of intent from the board and Mark Allen. Arfield is an accomplished Premier league performer and for free, we would really be getting excellent value.
Rangers are reportedly also in the hunt for James McArthur, the Crystal Palace Scottish Midfielder. This is another deal reported to be well down the line and again represents a strong indication from Ibrox that change will be happening for the better.
It’s important to state neither deal is at this point done. Given last year we had a manager sitting at Mar Hall picking the team for Saturday, only to back out at the last minute, we know nothing is ever safe in football!
Whenever I blog I try to tell you only what I know to be true. To answer questions of how I get information, I am fortunate to know some football agents and swap information with other people involved in Scottish football. That is how we have got previous signing news and contract information.
It’s also very important to clarify again that this blog in no way receives information from our club, it is true we hear leaked information that everyone else does.
Our contact details are on our info page and despite accusations, this is a blog for the fans by the fans. We will criticise where we see the need and praise likewise, anyone who read our criticism of the board last week will know that. I run the twitter page and I am @stevietrueblue, Alex who some of you may know from H&H is @strider80, we are the only people involved in this blog. Ignore the nonsense, the irrelevant and the noise is a phrase I use as reference to those ‘bloggers’ obsessed with our club. Hopefully that clears things up!
Personal criticism since I posted on the Hummel deal is disappointing and my responsibility. I knew about the deal and knowing the press were going to print with it decided to tweet it out. We had spoke before about the multi million pound deal being close, I truly believe it represents great business.
Hummel are a brand looking to reinsert itself in football. Rangers have secured a brand determined to push its own portfolio and that of our club.
On the playing squad there is strong rumours Carlos Pena will return to Ibrox imminently, with news of that expected in days to come. What is also sure is Rangers face another massive turnover this summer and it really has to be the last time it happens. It’s sure to be exciting with potential signing rumours and of course, the small matter of our ongoing management situation.
It is going to be an extremely interesting few weeks ahead as we finish the season and more news comes in regarding the managers situation.
It’s a situation the board simply can’t get wrong. Mark Allen seems to be targeting the right players off the pitch and hopefully we can have a positive summer.
Let’s hope any managerial decision is similar
