Rangers WFC manager Malky Thomson and forward Brogan Hay spoke to Four Lads Had A Dream at today’s press conference previewing Sunday’s Sky Sports Cup semi-final against Spartans.
The final will be played at Tynecastle on December 11 and will be the first SWPL match broadcast live on Sky Sports.
“We want to get to every final, but first and foremost we need to just take care of Sunday,” says Thomson.
“Spartans are a very good side who’ve posed us loads of problems in the past. We are familiar with how they play, different formations they use, but we’re really just focused on ourselves and what we’re about”
In terms of who is available for selection, Kathy Hill won’t make it despite being “very close” to returning after a long injury, but ultimately the backroom staff decided to protect her.
Other than that, the Rangers boss has 20 fit and able players to choose from.
He added: “The squad has had a great impact on results when the team has been rotated, adding value to each and every game”.
Reaching the final of this competition is something which has eluded the team thus far, but they know they must put that right.
“For us at Rangers it’s about winning every game, no matter if you’re in the men’s side or the female’s side. The club demands standards and [reaching the final] is something we’ve not done, so it gives us a point to prove.”
Meanwhile, Hay says the squad are really looking forward to the final.
“As a team we set our own standards, we want to get to a final and win some silverware,” she added.
“It would be massive for the club as a whole, so we hope that’s the outcome of this game on Sunday.
“Hopefully it can attract more fans and they can see what it’s all about. We want to keep growing the game.”
Hay recently received a Scotland call up and she’s more than deserving, arguably the brightest star in the squad, the club will hope she can help take the team all the way this season.
